WHAT DOES A REAL BEAUTY QUEEN LOOK LIKE?

Bald Really Is Beautiful!!

I received this picture today. In my eyes, this is one of the most beautiful and inspirational pictures that I have seen. The beautiful lady in the center is my dear friend, Billye Fietz. We met at a pageant three years ago and I have been blessed by her friendship ever since.

Billye just turned 62. I get a kick out of sharing her age - and she won't mind me telling you this because I introduced her to an audience full of people while I MC'd a pageant in Austin, Texas and because I am so proud of her I asked if I could share her age. I wish that I had the words to describe how the audience cheered for her!! She has a zest for life like no one else that I have ever met - she inspires me.

This beautiful lady is also a Survivor. Billye is battling - and WINNING - the fight against breast cancer. I am so proud of her strength and courage, but most of all, I am so proud of her for continuing to live life to its fullest. Though she admits that it has been rough, and some days are harder than others, she has not allowed certain obstacles to deter her from enjoying what she loves to do.

So, the next time you wonder, "what does a real Beauty Queen look like?" remember Billye, with her big beautiful smile, because folks - THAT IS TRUE BEAUTY!!

  1. I had no idea Billy was fighting Breast Cancer. Please give her my love and support and let here know we are praying for her.
She is an amazing beauty with or without hair and an inspiration to more than she realizes.

  2. What a fabulous post! I was directed here at just the right time. Lately I've been going back and forth about cutting my hair short. People keep telling me "oh no, it should be long for competition"

Then I was directed to your post. Reading about Billy reminds me that there are so many more important things in life to worry over. The picture speaks volumes. Though all 3 women are gorgeous, you are drawn to Billy. She has that spark that only age, wisdom, and tenacity can bring.

It isn't about our hair...it's about our HEART.

    Thank you for sharing
